Many technology critics believe that upgraded machinery and artificial intelligence will lead to diminishing job availability. Although this may be true in some industries, healthcare work requires a level of empathy and human emotion that robots and computers fail to provide. Because of this, humans will likely remain the primary caregivers for many years to come.
鈥淧atient care is not all science. It is art and empathy and emotions as well. Treating patients should not be left to machines since they have no emotions, make decisions based on their own logic, are not creative, and can make mistakes.鈥?/em>

鈥淲hile strides have been made in facial recognition and artificial intelligence, many problems remain since modern machine-learning-based A.I. is a black box; we cannot be sure of what the A.I. is thinking,鈥?Lynch said. 鈥淭his [allows] prejudice and bias to creep into the program, causing misidentification and false positives. It is an unfortunate fact of life now and possibly in the future, if we don鈥檛 act on it. It threatens our privacy; is subject to errors and misidentification, especially in regard to minorities; and has the potential to subject people to false accusations, detention and false denial of entry due to misidentification.
"For electrical contractors, this could mean denial of work, detainment and denial of entry into workplaces because of misidentification or built-in program bias. It also means that everything they do can and will be tracked by the A.I. on the job and off. Be aware that you can be targeted, misidentified, falsely accused of misconduct or prior bad acts, and they will be closely monitored by the A.I. every second.鈥?/p>

Features. If you buy a cheap computer that doesn't work for you, you'll end up wasting a lot of money. If you're a serious gamer or are running a business, you might want to opt for buying a computer from a company that builds computers on demand.
Tim Lynch, owner of Psychsoftpc, an artisanal computer hardware manufacturer based out of Quincy, Massachusetts, says that while "many folks will be satisfied with a cheap machine" at big-box stores and office supply stores, you're taking a risk. "They will perform OK for internet browsing, word processing, email and the occasional non-complex spreadsheet, but (computer users) will struggle to handle gaming, video streaming and will find virtual reality an impossibility," Lynch says. He says that with 64-bit operating systems, even the cheap machines should have at least 8 gigabytes of RAM.
Both Lynch and Gudema say that if you see a computer with 4 gigabytes, it's extremely cheap, and you should stay clear. Brown agrees that 8 gigabytes should be your minimum. "If you tend to keep lots of programs open at the same time, or lots of web browser windows, more memory will reduce the amount of time you spend waiting to switch between them or load new ones," she says.

One challenge with learning from AI is that our memory is completely different from an AI memory.
Another issue we face is that AI and humans are simply different, according to Dr. Tim Lynch, a Robopsychologist and Computer Psychologist. 鈥淏y learning too much from AI, we lose our humanity and creativity, which is our advantage over the machine,鈥?Lynch tells Parentology. 鈥淟et鈥檚 not forget that the goal of general AI is to make the machine more human not the other way around.鈥?nbsp;
Lynch explains that every self-learning AI based on neural nets is trained by subjecting it to large data sets propagated by humans. 鈥淭hese data sets can show human bias or prejudice which is then passed on to the AI,鈥?he explains. 鈥淎mazon was using an AI trained on hiring data to screen applicants and ensure only the best most qualified humans were hired.鈥?
As a result, the AI picked all-male candidates because the data it was trained on was biased against female workers. Lynch gives another example where an AI profiling program used by police was biased against certain racial, economic and neighborhoods and often ignored more affluent suspects.

Just how addicted to social media are we?
With our dependence on social media likened to being as bad as smoking, our researchers at Casino.co.uk commissioned OnePoll to survey 2,000 UK residents on their social media usage.
We also spoke to Robopsychologist (Computer Psychologist) CEO of Psychsoftpc Dr Tim Lynch about social media design and how the most popular platforms use the same addictive methods as slot machines to keep us hooked.
It's common to see casinos playing on the psychology of social reciprocity. Or, in simple terms: you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours.
Dr Lynch explains that "people are more apt to give or spend when they are given something beforehand, even if it is a small thing. Casinos use free drinks, free entertainment, free food, and even free rooms to entice people to gamble more.鈥?/p>
This is another part of psychology that social media platforms have borrowed from casinos in their designs and features.
Dr Lynch adds: 鈥淭he idea that you can see 'read' messages on Facebook encourages you to respond because senders know that you鈥檝e seen their message. Included in this are the ellipses that you see when someone is typing. You鈥檙e less likely to exit the app if you鈥檙e expecting a message, or at least they can ensure that you鈥檒l be back soon. Similarly, the idea of a maintain a 鈥榮treak鈥?on Snapchat means that you鈥檙e tied to the app in terms of reciprocation.鈥?/p>
And, although you can switch these features off, they are installed as an integral part of the design with the sole intention of increasing user engagement.
MIC | August 2, 2019 | Natalia Lusinski
In certain circumstances, though, restarting is necessary. 鈥淭he computer cannot update files or delete stubborn viruses while Windows is running, so these processes must be done as part of the boot sequence before Windows takes control,鈥?Dr. Tim Lynch, president of Psychsoftpc, tells Mic. 鈥淚f you never restart your computer, it will never be updated 鈥?and any viruses that run in the background will never get deleted.鈥?/p>
However, others take a different approach. Dr. Lynch recommends doing a hard restart to your PC once a day, or at least once every two or three days, in order to allow Windows to clean up open files, get rid of temp files, and update itself.
Dad sometimes offers a great example of what not to do. Dr. Tim Lynch learned to never listen to what his dad said about auto repair.
He also learned never to give his dad anything remotely flame-related for Father鈥檚 Day.
Today, Tim manufactures gaming computers and consults as a 鈥渞obopsychologist鈥?with a Ph.D. in psychology of computers and intelligent machines from Boston University.
But once, Tim was just a 17-year-old kid looking for a good Father鈥檚 Day gift.
鈥淥ne year, I decided to give Dad a blowtorch for Father's Day. (Yes, I said blowtorch.) That week, my Dad's car [a four-door Dodge Dart] developed a radiator leak,鈥?Tim said. 鈥淗e then uttered that ominous four-word phrase: 鈥業 have an idea.鈥欌?
Not every idea deserves a try. But that would be a lesson for another day. Tim鈥檚 dad decided that week would be a good time to test out the blowtorch while repairing the radiator. If you already know how this ends, you can thank Dad or the wise mechanic who trained you.
鈥淪o we removed the radiator from the car 鈥?a good idea as it turned out 鈥? drained it and set it in the backyard. He lit the blowtorch and touched it to the radiator,鈥?Tim said.
The radiator holds antifreeze, and it turns out that antifreeze is mostly alcohol. Even when drained, there was still some left in the radiator.
鈥淔lame hit radiator. Boom! The radiator exploded and launched 50 feet in the air,鈥?Tim said.
鈥淲e vowed to never use the blowtorch again.鈥?/span>

Because today鈥檚 and tomorrow鈥檚 games are graphically demanding especially when you add virtual reality to the mix. on board video uses system RAM and CPu processes to render images slowing your gaming system. Discrete Gaming GPUs in the other hand have their own specialized ultra fast RAM and their own rendering processor to take over the graphics part of gaming or any other graphics tasks allowing the system鈥檚 CPU and RAKM to focus on programmatic chores such as the game鈥檚 AI. so Gaming GPUs give a much more enjoyable experience than on board video.

But Dr. Tim Lynch, CEO of custom high-end server builder Psychsoftpccc in Boston, Mass., says the opposite is true. 鈥淢y experience has been that small and medium-sized companies are not as concerned about the whole name-brand thing. The larger companies tend to be more brand-conscious,鈥?he says.

Psychsoftpc also builds Nvidia-based Tesla supercomputer clusters, and the big-name-brand Teslas start at $40,000, whereas his start at $8,500. 鈥淧art of what makes it cheaper is to build it ourselves, and also we don鈥檛 have the major overhead they do,鈥?Lynch says.

Servers should not be taken apart to clean, but compressed air can be used once the covers are off. Some servers now have air filters near the power supply air intake. These should be cleaned to ensure free air flow. It should go without saying but folks should NEVER use liquid products like spray cleaners in the computers. The best time to do this cleaning is after business hours when down time will not effect work."

Gamescom 2018 has only just begun, but big news has already emerged from Cologne, Germany with the announcement of the latest line of consumer-grade graphics cards, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 20 series. PC manufacturers Psychsoftpc are taking advantage of this announcement to reveal plans to upgrade its available PCs with the new cards.
The new GPUs offers a number of advantages over existing cards, primarily with the introduction of the capability for real-time ray tracing. This technology allows for lifelike lighting, reflections and shadows.
Psychsoftpc will be incorporating these cards into its line of Psyborg Extreme Gaming PCs as soon as the new GPUs are available. These PCs offer the Intel Core X series of CPU, which combines with the Geforce RTX 20 series of GPU to allow for great performance for virtual reality (VR), photo and video editing, live streaming or videogames.
The company is billed as an 鈥楢rtisanal computer company鈥? All its machines are hand-built, and use a 鈥榡ust-in-time philosophy. Psychsoftpc say they aim to constantly evolve their machines in tune to the latest updates and trends in technology. Since the PCs are not pre-built they can rapidly change in response to new developments.
The company had previously offered a series of VR-ready gaming computers featuring the 8th Gen Intel Core processor, the Core i7 CPU, along with the Z370 chipset motherboards and support for Optane memory.
Psychsoftpc says on its official website: 鈥淲ant to develop for Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, OSVR Virtual Reality or Hololens Augmented Reality? This is where the "bystander effect" comes into play: It's a social phenomenon in which individuals are less likely to try to help a victim of bullying when others are present. "It was first demonstrated by social psychologists John Darley and Bibb Latan茅 in 1964," says Dr. Tim Lynch, a psychologist who studies how computer interaction affects personality. "They found that if there are many people witnessing an event, most will not help or call someone to aid another believing that some other observer will do that. We get paralyzed in crowds and feel that it is someone else's responsibility to respond."
But intervening does work; when bystanders step in, bullying stops within 10 seconds 57 percent of the time according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services anti-bullying website, Stopbullying.gov.
How does that work when we witness bullying online, when the abuse, intimidation and harassment take place virtually and not in the playground, in the schoolyard or on the street? Lynch admits that it's difficult to reduce the bystander effect in cyberbullying situations due to the very nature of computer and social media communication.
"We feel more insulated from other people because they are screen names," he says. "Plus, there is a perception of anonymity in texting, emailing and social media posting that makes cyberbullies bolder and bystanders even less likely to act. The nature of the medium acts as a deterrent to coming to another user's aid in cyberbullying cases but lends itself to others joining in on the cyberbullying in order to feel part of a group."

鈥淪elf-driving trucks means eliminating jobs,鈥?says Dr. Tim Lynch, president of Psychsoftpc, an artisanal computer company. 鈥淭he first jobs to go are, of course, the truck drivers. Lynch predicts that all the self-driving trucks will be owned by big corporations with no independent truckers able to afford a more expensive autonomous truck.

Dr. Tim Lynch, who works in artificial intelligence as president of artisanal computer company Psychsoftpc, says self-driving vehicles will brings changes that might not be affordable for all people.
鈥淔or decades, driving a car has been a rite of passage in the U.S.,鈥?Lynch acknowledges. 鈥淭his will be taken away. We would turn from a society of drive-thrus to one where we have to call for a robocar every time we want to go somewhere, and this can get expensive.
鈥淲hat the Googles of the world don鈥檛 understand is that most folks can鈥檛 afford to pay $12 or more for a round trip to McDonalds or Starbucks.鈥?/p>
And then there鈥檚 the waiting.
鈥淭oday if we want to go somewhere we hop in our car and go,鈥?Lynch says. 鈥淚f we have to call for a self-driving car every time we will have to wait 10 minutes or more for a ride, and that is both ways.鈥?/p>
Self-driving cars will affect almost every industry, including legal, food, auto repair, trucking, driver鈥檚 education, insurance and more, he adds.
鈥淚f autonomous cars are successful, and there are less accidents, then there is going to be less need for insurance agents,鈥?Lynch says.
Big companies could incorporate their own insurance in their own autonomous cars and handle that in-house. And if an autonomous car gets into an accident with another autonomous car, who are you going to sue?
鈥淭he AI proponents especially are saying it鈥檚 like the industrial revolution, and it鈥檚 not,鈥?Lynch points out. 鈥淚t鈥檚 not because industrial revolution was machines that didn鈥檛 think. You still needed people to run them. You still needed assembly lines. It lessened the handcrafting that people were doing, the hard labor.
鈥淏ut as the machines moved in, it still created jobs. The problem with AI is as
it moves in, it鈥檚 going to take over jobs and it鈥檚 not going to create jobs.鈥?/p>
Self-driving cars would likely reduce accidents, Lynch says, but it鈥檚 not a
given. He brings up the man who died in 2016 using Tesla鈥檚 Autopilot mode on his
Model S, the first fatal crash involving a self-driving car.
鈥淭he AI in that Tesla car didn鈥檛 know the difference between a semi and a bridge
and decided that the semi was a bridge and it could drive under it,鈥?Lynch says.
鈥淭here鈥檚 a concept in AI called perverse instantiation. That is, we give an AI a
task like driving. It completes that task, but it completes it in a weird way
that we humans would never even consider.鈥?/p>
In that Tesla crash, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found no
defects in Tesla鈥檚 system.
Still, AI just doesn鈥檛 have the socialization and people skills humans have, or
the life experience to just simply know the difference between a semi and a
bridge.
鈥淭he AI running the car doesn鈥檛 have a moral compass,鈥?Lynch explains. 鈥淚t
doesn鈥檛 know right from wrong the way that we do. It just knows there鈥檚 a task,
and the best logical way to accomplish that task. Sometimes it will accomplish
that task in ways that will harm people or harm the environment or harm nature
in ways that we humans would never even consider doing. So that鈥檚 a problem with
artificial intelligence-driven cars.
So how do you plan for something that requires a Steve Jobs-level of forward
thinking?
From insurance to traffic to jobs to safety, self-driving vehicles will change
almost every aspect of life.
And businesses, cities and even our own mindset will just have to scramble to
keep up.
鈥淲e鈥檒l be seeing a lot of changes coming up in all sorts of areas regarding
artificial intelligence, and all sorts of issues that we need to be thinking
about now before it becomes too late and we can鈥檛 do anything about it,鈥?Lynch
says.

Employee Training, Athletic Training and Education are very interesting areas. The advantage of AR in these disciplines is that a person can experience situations and live through them virtually. Lessons like this are far more likely to be retained than lectures or reading. And the trainee / student can experiment with scenarios without being exposed to harmful situations because the danger is all virtual. This is ideal for firefighters, EMTs and first responders because they can learn how to react in stressful situations without actually being in these situations.

Here is the Inside Scoop:
Bitcoin will go up and down over the next 5 years while bitcoin mining will become more difficult and require more and more robust and powerful computing technology while blockchain will continue to thrive and find more uses beyond just cryptocurrency. Bitcoin will also face increased competition from other cryptocurrencies but there will be a culling of the herd and many of the newer ones will fall by the wayside as the cryptocurrency market becomes saturated and most lose their value. since cryptocurrency is private and not state sponsored or backed there will always be risk involved in its use.

Our devices hold the gateway to any type of content imaginable. Because of that, it doesn鈥檛 make sense to classify screen time as either good or bad. A good example of this is a 2016 study in the International Journal of Communication that found that Australian teenagers who regularly gamed also scored better in math, reading, and science. But according to computer psychologist Dr. Tim Lynch, the value all depends on the quality and content of the game. 鈥淭ime spent playing games can be beneficial or not depending on the content,鈥?said Lynch. 鈥淲e need to be aware of this and make sure that our kids get exposed to positive interactions, limit the neutral ones, and eliminate the negative ones.鈥?/p>

It's not just servers benefiting from supercomputer research. Technology finds it way into high-end workstations, also known as personal supercomputers, using largely the same data processing designs originally made for expensive gaming rigs. Now the technology follows full-scale supercomputers into the same type of customers such as universities, scientific-minded corporations, and three-letter government agencies鈥?quot; And front companies for three-letter agencies," added founder Tim Lynch, who said he's not at liberty to specify any of them. Mixed reality is also a major component of Industry 4.0. Big companies are already issuing mixed reality devices like helmets and glasses to employees in hopes that the increased communication and visualization of contextualized data will boost productivity and intelligent decision-making.
"Mixed reality is a real game-changer in manufacturing," Tim Lynch, CEO of Psychsoftpc, said. "For repair personnel, it allows them to 'see inside' the machine that needs repair or 'see through walls' to the cables and pipes behind to know exactly where to drill or cut."
To take it a step further, imagine the maintenance person diagnosing the affected machine recognizes a problem but doesn't have the expertise to fix it. Mixed reality devices can connect someone with the proper expertise to the person on-site, who can then show them step by step, through digital overlays, how to perform the repairs.
For training purposes, mixed reality creates an environment where employees can experience virtual situations relevant to their job without risking actual equipment or manufacturing uptime.
"In training, workers can practice on virtual products to gain experience that will carry over to the real world," Lynch said. "They can be put in simulated situations that they could face in doing their job and learn how to handle them virtually before being exposed to them at work."

鈥淭he definition of what is a computer and what is not a computer is getting blurred and it will continue to get blurred even more,鈥?says Dr. Tim Lynch, pioneering researcher of the psychology of computers and founder of Psychsoftpc. 鈥淔olks like to compartmentalize. They really do need to broaden their perspective.鈥?/p>
There鈥檚 little advantage to having young children anywhere near the cutting edge. In fact, Lynch says, introducing children to technology has no real upside until after kids鈥?sixth birthday when they possess the mental capacity to think a bit more abstractly. Before that, parents should be much more focused on socialization, confidence, self-control, and all the other good traits no one associates with browsing Instagram. Does that make the smart fridge dangerous? Not exactly, but it does mean that the kitchen is at the top of a slippery slope.
鈥淲e don鈥檛 want kids to get so comfortable with computers that they lose their
humanity,鈥?Lynch says. 鈥淭here needs to be some type of a balance between
interacting with computers and technology and getting out with friends and
playing.鈥?/p>
The first lesson, according to Lynch, should be to teach the child how to turn
the computer off and on. This may seem trivial, but it鈥檚 actually pretty crucial
for understanding ideas like maintenance and troubleshooting. Parents would feel
pretty embarrassed if their kid answered the standard first question of IT
professionals with, 鈥淗ow do you turn it on and off again?鈥?/p>
鈥淜ids need to know how to do it the right way,鈥?says Lynch. 鈥淎nd doing it any
other way can damage or cause problems for the machine.鈥?/p>
Once a kid is oriented to understanding how to turn the computer on, and use the
mouse, trackpad and keyboard, they can learn how to open applications. At this
point, parents should explore and play with their kid, side by side. The
important part is helping a child understand the variety of uses a computer has,
whether it be gathering information, drawing, painting, or writing. This helps
kids understand that a computer is more than a portal to social media and cat
videos, although those are admittedly some prime computer uses.
But in the end, it鈥檚 about giving the child a sense of respect for the power of
computers. 鈥淵ou also want them comfortable with actually using the thing,
because they鈥檙e going to have to live with it. So we don鈥檛 want them to be
overwhelmed,鈥?Lynch says.

Tim Lynch, PhD. Psychsoftpc (Quincy, Mass.): "Technology will play a big part in the treatment of patients. Things that we are seeing now, such as virtual reality, augmented reality, 3D printing, even 4K displays, will be pervasive in the hospital of the future. All this will require even more computing power, which we are also seeing now with the new Intel Core X series CPUs, which currently have a 10 Core 20 thread Processor and will go up to an 18 Core36 thread CPU by years end. This is the equivalent of having 36 computers in one processor, so we are seeing supercomputers moving to the desktop now. Of course graphics cards are also becoming more powerful allowing for better resolution and handling of VR and AR."

One important part of that training should be making sure that everyone in your company knows how to craft a strong password.
Too many people are using weak and common passwords for their data, with 4% of people using 鈥?23456.鈥?This bad practice could be putting your company at risk.
Dr. Tim Lynch of Psychsoftpc suggests that crafting better passwords can be as simple as 鈥渦sing a phrase with special characters rather than just a single word. For example, 鈥楢ll!Happy!Families!鈥?rather than 鈥榮noopy.'鈥?
Make sure your employees also know, once they鈥檝e developed strong passwords, don鈥檛 give them out to just anyone. If you need to give guests access to your Wi-Fi, create a separate guest network. Many believe VAMR technologies can radically change the way digital publishers create content for and communicate with their core audiences. Additionally, competition should be a driving force that spurs early adoption. 鈥淐reating immersive content now will put publishers ahead of the competition and give them valuable experience for future content creation,鈥?says Tim Lynch, CEO of Psychsoftpc, which manufactures VR-ready gaming computers.

1.
Processor: A solid, fast CPU is a must for a great Gaming PC. an Intel Core i7
or the AMD equivalent is best but a high end Intel Core i5 will do for an entry
level machine.
2. Video
card: You should get the best GPU that you can afford. We currently feature the
NVidia GTX 1080 in our high end machines but also use the GTX 1070 and the GTX
1060 GPUs. A good gaming computer needs a good discrete video card not the video
chip built into the motherboard to give excellent performance. Also, you should
look for Virtual Reality ready cards that support 4K.
3. RAM: A decent system
should have at least 8 gig RAM for an entry level system and 16 gig for a high
end system. Gaming quality RAM is also a good idea. look for RAM with heat
spreaders that are designed for performance rather than cheap generic memory
found in low end desktop machines.
4. Motherboard: Good
gaming machines are built around gaming motherboards these are high performance
MBs designed for heavy use and performance tweaking. it should also be a
full ATX for expansion.
5. Power
supply gaming machines require an excellent high wattage PSU to run all the
fans, CPUs, video cards, RAM, hard drives, etc. I recommend at least a 1000 Watt
PSU
6. CPU cooling this
should be a cooler designed for gaming performance not the stock Intel cooler
that comes with the CPU

"Kids can learn a lot of different things on the computer, and
[they] need to use it for school work. But it is important for kids to be with
other kids and to spend time with the family, too," said Dr. Tim Lynch,
president and founder of PsychSoftPC, a maker of high-end computers.
But Lynch thinks that phones and computers can actually promote socialization.
While TV is a passive medium, he said, phones and computers are active. "Even
playing games or communicating with friends through a computer or smart phone is
going to have a [positive] effect on kids' socialization because [this] is an
active not a passive medium," Lynch told Techwalla.
The more individuals interact with others through technology, the more attractive it becomes so it鈥檚 imperative that a concerted effort is made to interact without digital devices such as computers, cell phones, texting and tweeting, said Dr. Tim Lynch, president and CEO of Psychsoftpc, a company that develops computers for virtual reality gaming.

Small firms don't need a brick and mortar store to take advantage, either.
Tim Lynch has sold high-end computers and systems to serious gamers as well as government agencies via Psychsoftpc since 1987. Today his Quincy, Massachusetts firm has about 25 employees and does about $3 to $5 million in revenue annually.
His business operates entirely online. His way of capitalizing on Pokemon Go craze involved driving traffic to his website and social media pages. Lynch says he spent a few hours creating a relatively simple 3D printout of a game badge that players could download for free, then print on a 3D printer. Such printers need to be programmed鈥攊t's not as easy as the Control-P on a basic home machine鈥攕o this download provides the information that can be sent to such a printer. Fans who don't have access to a 3D printer themselves could send it to one of many online firms that print for people.
Badges, Lynch notes, become collectables among gamers. He places the file far down on his company's home page, so users would have to scroll through information about his firm to access the file.

The Uber situation highlights the fact that unless all such solutions are anticipated and specifically programmed to be out of bounds, an AI can arrive at a situation and implement it to the detriment of people or the environment. Dr. Tim Lynch, who has a doctorate in the psychology of computers and intelligent machines, calls this "Perverse Instantiation."
What that means is an AI can be programmed with a benign goal but implement it in a perverse manner just because the solution is logical and expeditious. "So if there is a problem with the food supply, an AI's solution may be to reduce the population by any means available rather than find ways to increase food production or decrease food waste," he said.
4KHUB by Dr Tim Lynch of Psychsoftpc
4K is now prevalent in high performance gaming computers (we at Psychsoftpc currently have all our machines capable of 4K) and many enthusiasts are watching streaming video on 4K monitors. This is a ready and steadily growing market for 4K content. People have the capability to view 4K content now and when you have something you want to use it, that's just human nature. Give a kid a hammer and suddenly everything needs hammering. The gear is in place just begging to be used. And lots of folks are watching streaming content on PCs and tablets as a matter of course avoiding the TV in the parlor. As a content creator, you want to get your stuff viewed by as many folks as possible and 4K gives you that edge.
Most current video games for PC are 4K compliant or can be made so with a simple download, so folks are getting used to viewing things in 4K and will want that to carry over to other media. Once you go 4K you don't want to go back. It is like watching standard def TV shows now that we have HD. I avoid them and you probably do too. Things are so much better in High Definition and even more so in 4K. It just ups the clarity to a whole new level. You start to see things in ways you didn't before. When folks get used to 4K they can spot the difference when viewing HD. This can lead to negative reviews of content. Folks don't know why they don't like something, they just know that they don't. The content can be Emmy worthy, but something just feels off about it. People are fickle.

Tim Lynch, owner and CEO of Psychsoftpc, agrees, giving some specific examples of what not to put on the cloud.
鈥淐ompany financials, employee records, health records, customer credit card and banking info, and anything else you wouldn't want your competitor or the press to get hold of,鈥?he says. 鈥淭he cloud isn't as secure as folks make it out to be and many providers have been compromised so you don't want anything stored there that can cause you, your employees, your company or your customers any harm.鈥?/p>
He points out that your business could be legally liable for privacy law violations and fines if the cloud provider is compromised. In addition to the possibility of hacks, the cloud has another problem, he says: It鈥檚 not always reliable.
鈥淭here have been several outages recently that have lasted for over a week,鈥?he says. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 several days without access to your data.鈥?/p>

In addition to social media and mobile, we still have all of these cool devices that turn leisure time into high-tech fun. Not only do we get to play more with tech via PC and console gaming, but 鈥?D headsets and virtual reality like Oculus Rift are entering gaming, meetings, and virtual travel tours,鈥?says Dr. Tim Lynch of PsychsoftPC. And emerging technology like 3D printing allows anyone to 鈥渂ecome a sculptor with the right computer, digital camera, and imaging software,鈥?Dr. Lynch says.

Or are they? Most people view HPC in terms of the home-grown, scale-out infrastructure that populates the data centers of Google, Facebook and other Web giants. But as the technology matures, it is being integrated into increasingly modular footprints that can be incorporated into the standard enterprise footprint relatively easily.
Indeed, as Enterprise Tech鈥檚 Alison Diana found out from top executives at Cray, Psychsoftpc and other HPC specialists, enterprise deployments are seen as the next big market opportunity, which is why many of the leading platforms are being retooled with advanced power and cooling systems for deployment into critical data infrastructure. The HPC industry, in fact, is working to overcome the persistent myths that advanced computing requires specialized support, or even entirely new data centers, before it can play an active role in emerging data processes like analytics and high-speed transactions.

"We make gaming computers and wouldn't be doing that if it weren't for Windows 95," says Tim Lynch, CEO of Psychsoftpc. "It was the first true graphical gaming platform with the introduction of DirectX and games such as Hover, Pitfall (think Lara Croft), Al Unser Jr. Arcade Racing, Battle Beast, NBA Full Court Press, Havoc, and Diablo, all of which defined genres of games. Without Windows 95 there would be no Steam or Xbox and we would still be playing Pong."

High performance computers
do not necessarily require their own specially designed datacenters, yet
even when design, cooling, or other concessions are necessary, benefits far
outweigh any upheaval.
"There is a lot of misinformation out there that prevents folks from acting. It
costs too much. It takes up lots of space. It needs its own climate-controlled
room. It requires hundreds of computers,? said Tim Lynch, CEO of HPC vendor
Psychsoftpc, in an interview. All
pretty much false. A working cluster can be made with as little as five machines
and a gig switch. That doesn't take up much room at all and the cost is not
prohibitive."

Misinformation and FUD cost enterprises the chance to avail
themselves of the growing selection of high performance computers specifically
designed to resolve today's advanced scale computing challenges. Big data,
analytics, and other high-compute applications are changing some technology
leaders? minds, while those who have already embraced HPC leverage these
powerful solutions for competitive gain.
"The computer and HPC have advanced so much in the past few years yet the
attitude toward HPC is still one of [the] last century," said Tim Lynch, CEO of
Psychsoftpcc, whose high performance
products include the
Tesla Personal Supercomputer,
Psychlone
Linux Hadoop Cluster, and

HIPAA and Disaster Recovery
No matter how good your security policies are, you鈥檒l probably run into stubborn partners who refuse to take adequate precautions. This story from Dr. Tim Lynch of Psychsoftpc shows why a disaster recovery plan is so important:
I had one client who got a new medical billing software package. the software company trainer, who should have known better, insisted on having just one login name and password for the entire staff, making the entire office not HIPAA compliant. this was done over my strong objections to make it 鈥渆asier on the staff鈥? this person is still working for the company and still making every dermatology medical office she visits non-compliant.
@Psychsoftpc shares tips on video game storage for those days you feel like being a kid again. Video games have changed dramatically over the years. What used to be a thick plastic cartridge can now be found in a web version or in a lightweight CD form. But one thing that remains intact is the value video games have to those who are involved in the industry. Gamers and collectors will always value a good piece of hardware that brings back memories of the first virtual games that ever existed.
You can store those games that are in cd/blue-ray form in CD sleeves or cases but Dr. Lynch says that it鈥檚 crucial to make sure the storage area you鈥檙e placing your video games in is dry since you may have additional items to store along with the games.鈥淵ou鈥檙e not just storing CDs or DVDs but cases and papers with those all important gaming keys without which you can not install or play the game,鈥?says Dr. Lynch.

Social media is very effective if you can get influencers to talk about your game. if you already have an established following, this can be a lot easier to accomplish. if you are new to the industry, attracting the attention of these folks is your number one job. PR is also very effective. Make sure you target Game Press publications and sites. you have to do some research to find the best folks to pitch鈥nd don鈥檛 forget the review copies, contests, on line events and promotions are also effective. Technology upgrades.
If it鈥檚 been 3 to 5 years or more since they鈥檝e upgraded or replaced their tech, it鈥檚 time to take a serious look at it. A lot as changed in that period and they are probably lagging behind.
There is a new Wifi standard 802.11AC which offers much faster more reliable throughput than 802.11N to take advantage of this, routers and wireless access points would have to be replaced. Computers are faster than ever and graphics are better. Getting new machines or upgrading old ones with newer GPUs to take advantage of newer software should be considered.
If they are still using computers with the Windows XP operating system, they are at extreme risk for viruses, hacking and security breaches since XP is no longer supported by Microsoft and is no longer being patched. These machines should be replaced as they are probably too underpowered to run Windows 7 or 8.1 software should then be updated to take advantage of a true 64 bit operating system and the performance and speed it brings.

Big Tech Dream: 鈥淭he more beautifully we wrap things, the faster we sell them. But it is amazing how long that takes,鈥?says Romano. She鈥檇 love a virtual elf 鈥渢o package, label and tie pretty bows鈥?instead of hiring six people to help year-round, plus an extra two during the holidays.
Tech Reality Check:
Tim Lynch, Ph.D. and CEO of Psychsoftpc, a Quincy, Massachusetts, computer and gaming firm, says Romano better keep tying those bows. While robots can automate many tasks, it will likely be decades before a robot can handle delicate assembly work.
The Auto Mortar and Pestle
David Gilbert, chef-owner at Tuk Tuk Tap Room, San Antonio
Big Tech Dream:
Because he makes Southeast Asian-inspired cuisine, Gilbert spends most of his prep time with a mortar and pestle. Nothing else works like the time-honored tool, which smashes herbs while a food processor cuts. Lemongrass gets stringy if cut, rather than smashed. Gilbert pines for an automated, time-saving option.
Tech Reality Check:
The demand for fine motor skills makes a delicate task like this out of reach for current robotics, but Lynch sees it being possible within the decade. 鈥淭he field of robotics is advancing rapidly,鈥?he says.
鈥淭he use of data analysis in predicting demand allows for ramping up or slowing down of production to have a more optimal supply, that is a supply to more closely match actual current needs rather than an oversupply or shortage,鈥?said Dr. Tim Lynch with North Quincy, Mass.-based Psychsoftpc, which makes high performance computers and builds turnkey Hadoop Clusters for Big Data analysis, Linux clusters, scientific workstations and Tesla personal supercomputers.

The Basics of Simulation The information needed for a computer simulation in a clinical trial includes population of subjects 鈥?such as age and demographics, chemical composition of drug dosage variations, and potential interactions, says Tim Lynch, CEO of Psychsoftpc. Psychsoftpc has designed artificial intelligence software for AIDS research for the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The complexity of the simulation depends on whether some of the programming pieces already exist, he says. 鈥淢odern programming involves using, reusing, and adapting pre-existing code or classes. Modular programming is the word.鈥?/p>
鈥淭he more real-world data that can be applied, the better the [computer] simulation,鈥?Lynch says. 鈥淚f good simulations can be devised by inclusion of real-world data, a researcher could run what amounts to hundreds or even thousands of clinical trials virtually before attempting to run a real-world trial.鈥?

After you get your desktop cleaned up, keep it that way. Tim Lynch of Psychsoftpc says, "You should actually never use [your] desktop for anything other than shortcuts to frequently used programs. What is not commonly known is that you can actually create folder[s] on the desktop and put shortcuts in these to further organize things... you can even put shortcuts to other folders in these."
Your desktop should be clear of any files you aren鈥檛 immediately working on. Save current files within their permanent home, then create a desktop shortcut to access them easily.
Lynch recommends you have both onsite and offsite backup. "I recommend having an onsite backup in addition to one of the internet systems. You can't trust that the internet will always be available [to you]," he says, "The internet is always slower than local access. What happens to your stuff if... you forget to pay your bill?"

One software solution relates to the way medical records are transmitted to patients鈥?doctors. In the current medical environment, medical records are no longer transported back and forth. Medical offices are able to deliver images and video online for demonstrating to patients. This new technology brings a few requirements with it, however.
鈥淲ith the rise of online medical record and imaging delivery and online video consults, doctor鈥檚 offices should have at least one high-end computer that can handle high quality imaging output, video conferencing and 3D rendering,鈥?Tim Lynch of PsychsoftPC says. 鈥淭he ability to handle 3D virtual walk-throughs will also become increasingly important as medical technology continues to advance. And as diagnostics become more technology-driven, fast, high-end computers will become vital to data analysis in the practice of medicine.鈥?/p>

Tim Lynch of boutique gaming computer maker PsychsoftPC sums up the concerns shared by many Office holdouts: "I prefer a traditional software package because it's not subject to Internet speed or availability, it's as fast as my PC can make it, big corporations like Google can't see what I'm writing or use it for advertising or sell my info to other advertisers, and my stuff is stored on my PC under my control, not in some unnamed server in some ambiguous cloud in some unnamed country."

started. Tim Lynch

So why is gamification such an effective tool for instruction and training? Tim Lynch, president of gaming computer company Psychsoftpc, was one of the first psychologists to study the effects of computer interaction on socialization. Doing his doctoral work, he observed that people responded to a computer in similar ways as they did to other people鈥揵ut better.
鈥淚n many instances, they were more open since there was a feeling of anonymity in dealing with the computer, and that learning in a computer simulation environment transfers over to real life experience,鈥?Lynch says.
So, the first key ingredient in gamification success is an openness to connecting with technology. The second is using the computer experience afterward in practical application. Otherwise, the learning doesn鈥檛 take place.
Parks Perspectives June 18, 2012
Gamification is applying engaging elements of game theory to non-game applications. An example would be to create a game to learn something new for work: While a lecture session could potentially turn off employees and prevent learning, a game that teaches the same skills could lead to an interested employee that is eager to learn.
In order to understand how far gamification has come, it鈥檚 important to know where it started. Tim Lynch, one of the first psychologists to study the effects of computer interaction on socialization, is currently the president of gaming computer company Psychsoftpc.Lynch stated that the basis of people socializing through computer interaction rested on the observation that people responded to a computer in similar ways that they did to other people. 鈥淚n many instances, they were more open since there was a feeling of anonymity in dealing with the computer, and that learning in a computer simulation environment transfers over to real life experience,鈥?he adds.

Our roundup of intriguing new products. Psychlone Linux Cluster with Apache Hadoop. Hadoop is a Java-based programming framework that supports the processing of large data sets in a distributed computing environment.
Most 3D software, gaming or otherwise, available up to this point has been very gimmicky. Either you were traversing polygons in a huge, virtual reality apparatus at a theme park, you were peering into a set of unwieldy goggles which rendered Wario in an ugly red monochromatic landscape鈥揳nd yeah, we know you鈥檇 rather leave the horrendous Virtual Boy buried in the annals of your memory.
However, desktop 3D gaming is actually experiencing somewhat of a renaissance, and you can actually experience pretty decent 3D gaming from your computer. We鈥檝e looked at the hardware offered by North Quincy, MA computer manufacturer Psychsoftpc before, but the maker has since expanded their offerings, and now you can order your gaming rig with NVida鈥檚 3D Vision Kit with their Psyborg Extreme Gamer PCs to experience 3D gaming straight out of the box, provided you have one of the many supported steroscopic montors. And, as the computer maker points out, this is probably the closest we鈥檒l ever get to a holodeck.
The kit comes with viewing glasses that function on the same principles as the ones you wore when you watched latest Pixar flick. Each eye sees a slightly different image, and the brain integrates the two images to produce a depth of field. The best part of the entire system is that the software inteagrates with existing games, meaning most games are compatible with the viewing system. NVidia often demos the system by playing Mirrors Edge, an experience that has to be absolutely and delightfully nauseating.
As we said before, Psychsoftpc makes some powerful computers, and by offering NVidia鈥檚 3D Vision Kit with them, the package only becomes even more valuable.
While some people may only need their computers for checking their email and watching the occasional grainy YouTube video, there are some people who need an absolute powerhouse of a computer. Those people quite likely would shop at Psychsoftpc, headquartered close by in Quincy.
Psychsoftpc makes blisteringly fast and powerful computers built for users who need to do some serious computational lifting. While you鈥檒l certainly be able to check your email, you鈥檒l also be able to run the whole gamut of CAD, CAM, CGI, engineering and scientific programs out there, complete with enough graphic memory to make them fly.
